KATE JENNINGS (SHE/HER)

Founder & Principal

Kate has worked in the international education and global engagement sector in progressive leadership roles at five higher education institutions in three provinces in Canada over the past 25+ years. Kate is also the Founder & Principal at Jennings International Education Leadership & Training. In addition to her paid work, Kate volunteers her time in leadership and training roles with international education associations globally as she is deeply committed to giving back to the profession that has given her so much joy over the years. Kate serves as the current Past-Chair (or "reclining chair" as our team lovingly calls the role) of NAFSA's International Education Leadership Knowledge Community (IEL-KC), a three-year volunteer leadership role which began in January 2022. Kate was included in The PIE’s 50 voices of 2023 – North America​ edition and was included again in 2024. This fall (2024), Kate was awarded the NAFSA Region 1 Outstanding Service Award for her contributions to NAFSA and the field of International Education. In 2021, Kate was awarded the British Columbia Council for International Education (BCCIE) International Education Distinguished Leadership Award.

Kate's experience successfully leading international teams including those involved in international engagement and partnerships, education abroad, enrolment management, student services, and English language program development and services is recognized regionally, nationally, and globally as entrepreneurial and leading-edge. Kate is noted, in particular, for her strengths in developing inclusive and innovative international partnerships, programs, and service models, enterprise risk management and related policy and procedural development, as well as improving business processes by being a change agent, collaborator, and coach with those involved in international education and global engagement across the organizations with which she works.

Kate's research and training interests include international strategic planning, international partnerships and collaborations, policies and practices for including, and supporting, under-represented and diverse populations in international education, as well as competencies and training for international education and global engagement professionals. Kate has published and presented on a variety of international education topics, including over 100 presentations and workshops for AIEC, BCCIE, CBIE, EAIE, NAFSA, and invited sessions at higher education institutions locally and globally.
